Blackburn Rovers injury update regarding 33-year-old emerges

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Forshaw is still a ‘few weeks’ away from returning, as detailed in a report by the Lancashire Telegraph.

Blackburn Rovers have been without the player so far this season. Rovers have lost both of their first two Championship games against West Brom and Birmingham City respectively.

Forshaw, 33, joined the Lancashire outfit in January on a short-term deal and played 17 matches in all competitions during the second-half of the last campaign. He then penned a contract extension earlier this summer.

In this latest update regarding his condition by the Lancashire Telegraph, he isn’t ready to return just yet as he continues his rehabilitation process. It is unlikely that he will feature in August with a September return on the cards.

Boss Valerien Ismael said in June, as per their website: “He understands his role, but we think that with a good pre-season, if he’s able to stay fit and healthy, we think that he’s able to give us more than what we saw.”

He added: “We saw already his quality and his ability to adapt to the way we want to play, but I think with a strong pre-season he will be able to give us more stability. When you see all the numbers and the data, he has really high numbers and we know that he’s able to do the job.”

What now for Blackburn Rovers?

Blackburn Rovers are back in action this weekend with an away trip to Hull City. Rovers’ upcoming opponents have drawn away at Coventry City and beaten Oxford United at home so far this term under their new head coach Sergej Jakirovic.

Ismael’s side could do with getting a result at the MKM Stadium. It has been a slow start and they need to start picking up some points.

Rovers have the chance to bring in some more new faces before the end of the transfer window to further freshen up their ranks. They also have the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed to free up space and funds.
