Blackburn transfer latest as speculation grows around winger
According to The Lancashire Telegraph, Blackburn Rovers are still interested in Marwan Al-Sahafi, but a deal has
not yet been reached to sign the forward.
Rovers are eager to recruit more players to Valerien Ismael’s team, who has added Dion De Neve and Sidnei Tavares
this summer. The recruitment team has been working on a left-sided centre-back as a top priority, but they also need
to add forward areas.
According to their piece from last month, Al-Sahafi was one of the wide players on the LT’s shortlist for this summer.
But rumours that a deal was being worked out at the time were false.
Speculation has escalated again after the 21-year-old posted a photo of himself in Manchester on social media over
the weekend. As of this writing, it is believed that the two teams have not formally reached an agreement.
Rovers are still interested in acquiring Al-Sahafi, but the fact that he is owned by Al-Ittihad, a Saudi Pro League
team, complicates matters Their first-team head coach, Laurent Blanc, has been the subject of rumours over his
future It is unlikely that any loan or permanent move will be approved until their management staff is clear
Rovers would be eager to try and come to an arrangement if that were to alter and football moves swiftly Adding
quickness and speed to the flanks has been a summertime goal
Last season, the 21-year-old made 25 appearances on loan at Beerschot, scoring six goals. Following the acquisition
of Makhtar Gueye and De Neve, Rovers have shown a strong interest in the Belgian Pro League in recent seasons.
Ismael has mentioned how crucial it is for his wide players to possess both running ability and intensity. That was a
major factor in De Neve’s signing, and Al-Sahafi’s statistics demonstrate comparable attributes.
If Rovers were to acquire another foreign player this summer it would be their third acquisition. It is clear that the
club believes they can now maximise their transfer expenditures in the UK, even though they are not only looking
outside of it
Over the weekend, they were linked to a deal for Ethan Pye of Stockport County, but their top aim at left-center-back
is still Legia Warsaw’s Steve Kapuadi. He fits the defensive recruitment profile they are striving for and is left-footed.
