Bolton Wanderers, who play in League One, appear to be going all out in the coming season after making some bold moves in the summer transfer window.

Bolton Wanderers are preparing for the 2025/26 League One season, hoping to improve on last season’s disappointment.

During the 2024/25 season, the decision to relieve Ian Evatt of his duties led to the appointment of Steven Schumacher as his successor.

While Bolton Wanderers missed out on the coveted top six, there was still much to build on for Schumacher’s side. They appear to be on the verge of bringing in another star after making several key signings. Bolton are already displaying intent for next season, and their next potential arrival exemplifies this.

Bolton Wanderers make progress in the custodian situation as they close in on Chelsea star.

Ted Sharman-Lowe appears to be Bolton Wanderers’ most recent potential acquisition, with Pete O’Rourke on X reporting that the League One club will sign him on loan from Chelsea during the 2025/26 season.

Sharman-Lowe had an outstanding 2024/25 season with Doncaster Rovers in League Two, assisting Grant McCann’s side to the league title. The Rovers manager praised his shot-stopper as “quality,” as evidenced by his 13 clean sheets in 46 games and only three goals conceded in the final six games of the season.

The Chelsea custodian will most likely be Schumacher’s third signing this summer, and it is not surprising that Bolton will continue to build what could be a fantastic squad next season.

Bolton has the foundation to build a League One powerhouse next season.

Given how early in the summer transfer window it is, Bolton has done an excellent job of bringing three players through the doors.

Bolton’s first signing, Sam Dalby, was a clear statement from the board, given that he scored 15 goals in the Scottish Premiership this season and turned down a contract with Wrexham to join Schumacher’s side. Xavier Simons, who has had successful loan spells with Hull City, was the next signing.

Sharman-Lowe would be the cherry on top and a prime example of how to build a team from the start, and Bolton shows no signs of slowing. If they maintain this level of ambition, they should be able to build a top League One team capable of competing for promotion.
