Bolton Wanderers to name Plymouth’s David Ray as new CEO.

WANDERERS is set to name David Ray as its new CEO later this summer.

According to reports published over the weekend, Plymouth Argyle’s current head of finance will take up the top job at Bolton, which has been vacant since Neil Hart left for MK Dons in September. Ray has been a significant figure at Home Park, where he collaborated with Whites head coach Steven Schumacher to secure promotion to the Championship in 2023 and then maintain the club’s second-tier status the following season. He will also be the second Plymouth staff member to join Wanderers in recent weeks, following Jimmy Dickinson’s move to the position of head of recruitment. It is thought that chief operational officer Phil Mason and chief financial officer Niaz Shazad will continue to operate as temporary CEO at Bolton until all contractual jobs” target=”_blank”>are finished.Meanwhile, Jonas Therkelsen, the Norway Under-21 international that Wanderers sought in January, has signed with German second-tier club Holstein Kiel. Bolton rejected two bids for the attacking midfielder during Ian Evatt’s final weeks as manager, despite tracking his progress at Strømsgodset for months. Therkelsen has signed a four-year contract in Germany worth approximately £1.6 million.
