Boro ‘still working’ on transfers as Rob Edwards makes deadline admission

Middlesbrough head coach Rob Edwards

Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwards admits there are still areas of his squad he would like to improve before transfer deadline day – and has revealed work is going on behind the scenes to get deals over the line.

Boro have added five players this summer, with Sverre Nypan’s loan moved from Manchester City adding to the arrival of Alfie Jones, Callum Brittain, Abdoulaye Kante and Sontje Hansen.

Adilson Malanda has also signed on a $8.5m deal this week, but will stay on loan with Charlotte FC in the MLS before moving the Teesside in January.

Edwards is pleased with the squad he has to work with so far, but ahead of Saturday’s game with Norwich City, admitted there was still time for further improvements before the window closes on September 1.
