Bould joins QPR’s new coaching staff

Steve Bould, a former defender for Arsenal, is now the Head of Defensive Coaching and First Team Coach at QPR.

Bould’s job will entail coaching all levels of the team, from the First Team to the younger Academy age groups, with an emphasis on the players’ long-term growth.

On the same day that Bould was hired, Rangers announced Julian Stephan as their new head coach.

Marti Cifuentes, who was placed on gardening leave in April and formally left QPR on Tuesday night, has been replaced by Stephan, 44.

After a string of disappointing performances, Stephan left his hometown team, Rennes, last November after two stints as manager. Under his leadership, the team won the French Cup in 2019, their first trophy in 48 years.

In addition to being Arsene Wenger’s first team assistant manager and the coach of Arsenal’s under-23 team, Bould spent two and a half years as the manager of Lommel SK in Belgium. I’m overjoyed.

First of all, and I don’t say this lightly, QPR is and always has been a fantastic football club, so I think it’s a terrific opportunity,” he stated.

Bould claims that his three top flight championships, FA Cup, and Cup Winners‘ Cup won during his time with the Gunners will mean nothing to the players he will be mentoring.

“If you can give the players something they can take with them, that’s the only way you get respect,” he continued. They show you little regard for your professional endeavours. In any case, most of them are unaware of it! Nowadays, football is incredibly tactical, and it’s fantastic.

We have all had to step up our game across the coaching system, but I believe that the true strategy of individual defence has been overlooked.

“We think that this appointment will improve our first-team performances this season and – in the medium-to-long term – allow us to develop talent into some of the most exciting defensive prospects in the country,” stated Christian Nourry, the CEO of QPR.
