All of the most recent rumors and news on transfers involving Sunderland
Following the rejection of a £26 million deal in recent days, Bournemouth may shift their focus from one Sunderland transfer target to another.
Similar to the Black Cats, the Cherries are rumored to be searching for defensive reinforcements this summer. They have recently been linked to both Sevilla talent Loïc Badé and LOSC Lille star Bafodé Diakité.
A failed attempt to lure Diakité to the Vitality Stadium may eventually result in a more serious attempt to recruit Badé, according to an update on Bournemouth’s interest in both players from Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna.
“Bournemouth is considering making a move for Sevilla’s Loïc Badé after Lille’s demands in the negotiations for Bafodé Diakité,” the reporter wrote on X. Lille, who are requesting 40M€ [£34.6m], rejected the English club’s previous offer of 30M€ [£26m]. Due to the French team’s lack of negotiating flexibility, Bournemouth is exploring alternative options to bolster their defense.

The degree to which Sunderland is genuinely interested in Diakité or Badé is currently unclear. Instead, according to a number of reports, the Black Cats have submitted an official bid of approximately £17.4 million for Jhon Lucumi, a star for Bologna, while the Colombian is reportedly still debating his future in Italy.
Burnley is interested in Sunderland-related Vardy, Jamie
Burnley, another Premier League newcomer, is reportedly considering a bid for Jamie Vardy, a free agent connected to Sunderland. After ending his tremendously successful time with Leicester City at the end of the previous season, the experienced striker is currently without a club.
According to Spanish publication Fichajes, the Black Cats and La Liga team Valencia are keeping an eye on his circumstances. However, a recent report from The Telegraph claims that the Clarets are also monitoring the 38-year-old. According to Mike McGrath, Scott Parker’s team is looking to add attacking depth and has highlighted Vardy, Tolu Arokodare of Genk, Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton, and Callum Wilson, a former Newcastle United player, as potential candidates.
Evan Ferguson joins AS Roma.
Finally, Evan Ferguson, a former Sunderland target, has finished his first loan transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion to AS Roma. The striker, who joins Serie A for a £2.6 million loan fee with an option-to-buy clause worth approximately £32 million attached, becomes the first Irishman to play for the Italian powerhouses.
Ferguson discussed his choice to join Roma, saying: “I think it’s difficult to turn down a major club like Roma, one of the biggest in Europe, showing interest in you, especially if you realize how beneficial this experience could be for you, your career, and the club. I think it’s a fantastic chance, and I appreciate the club’s owners and staff for making me feel welcome.”
