Bournemouth Winger Antoine Semenyo Signs New Five-Year Deal
AFC Bournemouth have secured a major boost ahead of the new Premier League season, with winger Antoine Semenyo signing a new five-year contract that will keep him at the Vitality Stadium until the summer of 2030.
The 25-year-old Ghanaian international has become a key figure for the Cherries since his arrival from Bristol City in January 2023. He joined for a fee of €10.25 million (\$12 million), and has since grown into one of the club’s most important attacking players.
Semenyo’s performances last season, where he scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 37 appearances, played a vital role in Bournemouth’s surprise ninth-place finish in the Premier League – their highest-ever league standing. The Cherries narrowly missed out on qualification for European football, but their campaign under manager Andoni Iraola turned heads across the top flight.
The winger’s fine form had attracted attention from several Premier League heavyweights, including Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur. However, Bournemouth have now tied him down long-term, fending off any imminent bids and making a clear statement of intent.
Speaking after signing his new deal, Semenyo expressed his delight:
> “This club has helped me grow so much, and I feel at home here. I believe in what we’re building at Bournemouth, and I’m excited to keep pushing with the team. Last season was special, and we know we can go even further.”
Bournemouth technical director Richard Hughes hailed the new contract as a reflection of Semenyo’s development and the club’s ambition.
> “Antoine has been exceptional since joining us. His pace, directness, and ability to influence big games make him one of the most exciting forwards in the league. We’re thrilled he’s committed his future to us.”
Since arriving from the Championship, Semenyo has made 89 appearances for Bournemouth in all competitions, scoring 22 goals and laying on 10 assists. He has also solidified his place in the Ghana national team setup, earning regular call-ups and featuring at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The new deal comes amid a busy summer for Bournemouth, who are looking to build on last season’s success and push for European qualification in 2025–26. Securing Semenyo’s long-term future will undoubtedly be seen as a cornerstone of that ambition.
With the likes of Dominic Solanke and Marcus Tavernier also integral to Iraola’s system, keeping the core of the squad intact has been a priority for the Cherries’ hierarchy. As the transfer window continues, attention now turns to adding reinforcements to support a squad that defied expectations last term.
For now, though, fans at the Vitality Stadium can celebrate keeping hold of one of their brightest stars — and a player who could still have his best years ahead of him.
