The last thing MAX Power wants is to offend Bobby Pointon.
The three-time League One champion believes City’s “one of their own” has a bright future.
Power has also taken notice of Pointon’s punching prowess in the gym, where he boxed for Yorkshire as a child. Power stated:
“Bobby Pointon has truly impressed me. Before I arrived, I had heard a lot about him, and I believe he has a very promising future.
A local lad playing for his own club is usually a plus.
He’s someone I’ve seen on the boxing pads, and I don’t want to argue with him. “I will maintain Bobby’s support.
” I want him close by if there’s any issue this season! However, it’s good to see that he’s a genuinely excellent kid, and other boys are now ready to take over.
“This squad is definitely well-rounded, and they’ve added guys like me who have played in this division before.”
Power, a former captain of Sunderland, led the division with Wigan in 2016, 2018, and 2022.
He expects City to be fiercely competitive, but he is not making any hasty predictions. “I won’t stand here and declare that we will win the league.
Nevertheless, let’s attempt to win each game. “If you look across the league this season, you’ll see that many clubs are hoping for success.
The spending prowess of Birmingham and Wrexham was a hot topic last season. They still needed to go out, win games, and give them fair play.
However, I don’t think such team exists this season. Many people expected those two to be up there, but don’t get me wrong, there are still some really large clubs.
In contrast, you search the league for teams that will be interested this season. There are several good sides and large clubs in this competition.

Power’s disappointment that City hadn’t defeated Chorley in the second friendly last week was a clear indication of his own vicious streak.
However, he sees the team coming together, and he anticipates that this will happen more quickly at the current boot camp in Austria.
