Bradford City urged to seal Notts County transfer for star who is “too good for League Two”.

This article is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk’ series, which features personal opinions from FLW Fan Pundits on breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings, and more.
Bradford City have been urged to sign Notts County striker Alassana Jatta, who scored 19 goals for the Magpies last season before losing in the League Two play-off semi-finals.
The Bantams return to League One on Saturday, hosting Wycombe Wanderers at Valley Parade, after spending six years in League Two.
Graham Alexander has spent the summer ensuring that his squad has the talent to make a difference in the third tier and avoid being dragged into a relegation battle this season.
Key additions such as Stephen Humphrys, Max Power, and Matthew Pennington have added League One quality and experience to Bradford’s ranks, but they will most likely look for more reinforcements in the final weeks of the transfer window.
Bradford City urged to sign Notts County star Alassana Jatta
Ahead of the big League One kick-off this weekend, Football League World asked their resident Bradford fan pundit, Boris Thomson, to name one player he’d like the Bantams to sign in the final weeks of the transfer window. Boris responded:
“One player I’d like to sign, and there have been a few rumours that we’ve been in contact with him, is Alassana Jatta from Notts County. “I believe, and most of League One will agree, that he is too good for League Two.
I believe he had the most goal contributions in League Two last year, and he appeared to be a well-rounded forward every time we faced him.
“I believe he would fit into our system quite well. He can play as a lone forward, but with the creative midfielders we have behind him, Alex Pattison and Antoni Sarcevic, he has a lot of raw pace and strength, which is ideal for runs behind. “I think it would be a great signing.
Do I believe it will happen? “Probably not,” he added. “We signed Stephen Humphrys, who has scored a few goals in preseason, and I believe Bradford fans have had a very positive reaction to him thus far.
“However, I do think Jatta would be a great signing for us if we were willing to enquire about him, and Notts County were willing to let him go for the right amount of money,” Boris told the BBC.
Jatta would further strengthen an excellent Bradford City attack
The Yorkshire-based club has already been working to improve their attack ahead of the upcoming League One season, with Humphrys and Will Swan joining this window.
This has given Alexander two more League One-experienced options to add to his roster, alongside Calum Kavanagh and Andy Cook, though the latter is still recovering from an ACL injury sustained last season.

Adding Jatta to this mix would be a serious statement of intent from Bradford, giving them another prolific option to rely on while Cook recovers and making an excellent partner for Humphrys.
As Boris mentioned, the Gambian would most likely thrive in Bradford’s system because of his speed and strength, which would allow him to latch on to balls through from creative midfielders and use his body to get the better of opponents.
