Alan Nixon claims that before the end of the week, Bradford City will sign Ibou Touray, a free agent from Stockport County.
With a thrilling victory over Fleetwood Town at Valley Parade at the end of the previous season, Bradford City was promoted. BCAFC maintained at least a play-off berth from February onwards, spending most of the second part of the 2024–25 season teasing the automatic promotion spots.
The Bantams ended their six-year League Two tenure by holding onto third place on the last day, even though they only won three of their final eleven games.
This summer, Bradford Cirt has been active, signing four new players so far. Max Power is making his EFL comeback from overseas, and Curtis Tilt, Joe Wright from Kilmarnock, and Josh Neuville from AFC Wimbledon have signed from Salford City.
With three of those additions being defensive signings, Alexander appears to be remaking his Bradford City backline, and it doesn’t appear that this will stop there. Ibou Touray is expected to join on a free after leaving Stockport County, according to Alan Nixon.
Last season, the Gambian international made 50 appearances for Stockport County in all competitions as the Hatters recorded their highest-ever League One point total.
According to Nixon, the Touray deal is probably going to be finalised before the weekend. After Neill Byrne and Antoni Sarcevic left the North West for BD8 last summer, Touray would become the third former Hatters player to join the BCAFC team.
Touray’s ability to traverse
Two years earlier, after Stockport County’s loss to Carlisle United at Wembley, Touray was brought to Edgeley Park to take Chris Hussey’s position, who had been released. Touray was acquired because of his ability to cross the ball, which led to him recording nine assists in his final season with Salford City. with the time, County was playing a back three or five.
The next season, when the Hatters won League Two, the Bradford City target repeated that number in less games.
Despite playing more games previous season, Touray’s numbers dropped to just three, but as it was his first season in League One, he might be forgiven and given credit for County’s changed formation, which most of the time looked like a back four.

Despite his constant presence, Touray received criticism from certain Edgeley Park supporters for what seemed to be inconsistent performances. This made some Stockport County supporters wonder why the team seemed to start contract renewal negotiations at Edgeley Park.
Touray showed enough positive traits to earn another season in League One, despite his possible inconsistency. During his tenure at Edgeley Park, the BCAFC target was utilised as a left-back, left wing-back, and left centre-back.
Given his versatility, he should be able to fit into any system for Bradford City under Graham Alexander.
