Hearts eye signing No.7 with Albanian winger transfer talks.

Heart of Midlothian are hoping to make signing number seven of the summer transfer season, with talks underway for Albanian winger Sabah Kerjota.

The 23-year-old is presently playing in Italy with Sambenedettese, where he is under contract until 2028. Last season, he scored 10 goals and helped 11 others to help the squad achieve promotion to the third tier after winning the regionalised fourth tier league. Sambenedettese’s sports director, Stefano De Angelis, said that the club is in talks with Hearts about a transfer.

He also stated that he hoped they would be concluded because it is an excellent chance for the player. “Talks are advanced or we wouldn’t talk about it but nothing is certain,” according to him. “We will review everything. If discussions are successful, it will benefit the player because this is a fantastic chance for him, but it must also benefit Samb.

“If that’s the case, then credit to the player and his agent; we have excellent ties with them, and everyone has worked hard to obtain the best possible terms. Otherwise, we’d be delighted to keep Kerjota with us.”

Derek McInnes stated a desire to add speed and width to his squad earlier this week. “The priority was a bit more pace, players happier playing in wide areas and a bit more physicality,” according to him.

“I still think, while we’re getting there, we’re still a bit short of that at the minute.” He revealed that a plan to bring Islam Chesnokov to the club this summer after signing a pre-contract is no longer going forward.

Hearts have been considering other options, including right winger Kerjota. He has been playing in Italy’s lower leagues since 2019. Although he is versatile, his primary position is wide right. Hearts have now completed six moves this season, with all six appearing in Wednesday night’s 1-1 friendly draw against St Mirren.

Lawrence Shankland could be re-signed to a new long-term contract. The striker flew to Spain Friday night to meet with the players ahead of his move.
