The central defender is not at Pompey’s Slovakian training camp after staying in England to finalise a move to Sincil Bank. Luton were also in the running to recruit the 23-year-old, but their League One opponents won the battle and are currently negotiating a deal.

According to The News, the transfer will result in a profit on the amount Pompey paid Bristol City to get the popular central defender in January 2023. Similarly, they made money on Christian Saydee, who moved to Wigan last month after two years on the south coast.

Pompey’s central defenders include Conor Shaughnessy, Regan Poole, Ibane Bowat, Hayden Matthews, Tom McIntyre, and Towler.

Towler, who has spent the majority of the last two seasons on Pompey’s bench, will now have the opportunity to play regular first-team games after joining the Imps. He has made 45 appearances and scored four goals at Fratton Park, including 10 Championship starts last season.

And the ex-Bristol City player will soon be looking to establish himself in Lincoln’s squad, having finished 11th in League One last season.
