Cardiff City fans’ first full glimpse of a Brian Barry-Murphy side yielded mixed results in Murcia, with the Bluebirds conceding in injury time against Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta’zim to draw the game 2-2.
There were moments of positivity, but in truth it was a bit of a patchy performance indicative of a side still very much learning on the hop as their new head coach tries to implement a new way of playing. Goals in the second half from David Turnbull and Rubin Colwill, however, gave City supporters who were in attendance at the Pinatar Arena, something to shout about.

But it was clear that there is still some way to go if Cardiff, who fielded a different XI in each half in the pre-season clash, are to completely transition to the style of play Barry-Murphy wants to play come the start of the league season. And the new head coach was candid with his assessment of the match.
