“Don’t think twice about it” was the most convincing response Brian Barry-Murphy received when he asked his father, the renowned Irish athlete Jimmy, for advice regarding the Cardiff City position.

As a player in both Gaelic football and hurling, Barry-Murphy Snr. has contributed to six All-Ireland championships, making him a sporting icon on the Emerald Isle. He was an incredible seven-time All-Star, five times in hurling and two in football, and his impact on the sport went far beyond his playing career.
He led Cork’s hurlers to Liam MacCarthy Cup glory in 1995, and he returned for a second stint as manager from 2011 to 2015.
