The year of the underdog continued in Glasgow, where Aberdeen defeated Celtic on penalties in the Scottish Cup final.

Celtic defeated the Dons with five goals less than a fortnight ago at Pittodrie, despite significant changes under Brendan Rodgers’ management.

“He just said, ‘it can happen to anyone’,” McGregor said. “This is obviously a personal moment. But the overall message was to ‘keep your head up’ and ‘you have done so much for the club’. And had’so much success for the club’.

“And he is obviously to be there for you, in that moment.”

McGregor’s numbers speak for themselves.

Celtic’s dominance makes winning a double a major disappointment. Remember who Scotland’s champions are.
