According to sources, Celtic are starting to plan for the rest of the transfer window and are close to announcing a new signing.
Brendan Rodgers confirms Celtic are near to arrivals.
In a sluggish summer for Celtic, six new players have arrived: Kieran Tierney, Callum Osmand, Ross Doohan, Benjamin Nygren, Shin Yamada, and Hayato Inamura.
Nonetheless, fans’ desire to see more action ahead of their team’s Champions League knockout round match is only growing, prompting Brendan Rodgers to address the Bhoys’ transfer negotiations ahead of this weekend’s Scottish Premiership opening against St Mirren.
He said, “We still have work to do in the market, but I’m very excited.” The emphasis is on the guys who are already here, and they have been working very hard. Hopefully, by the end of the month, we will have a stronger group for the transfer window.
“We hope this week there might be some news on that, but I think coaches in the transfer market don’t move at the same pace.”
After leaving Burnley at the end of his contract, free agency midfielder Josh Brownhill is someone Celtic could attempt to recruit amid interest from other clubs, yet if he does, one or two players may leave to streamline the Hoops’ engine room.

Jakob Breum of the Go Ahead Eagles has been linked to the Bhoys on numerous occasions. While his situation develops, Celtic are about to announce a signing that will be cheered by fans as they push the button on reinforcements.

To be fair, he has only made six senior outings. However, the 19-year-old won the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award in 2024/25, and he is highly regarded by his parent club.
Celtic beat off competition from Strasbourg to sign Simpson-Pusey, who will battle with Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, and Auston Trusty for a spot in the Bhoys back four.
Pep Guardiola previously described him as “unbelievable,” and all that remains is for minor formalities to be completed before his official debut at Parkhead.
