Celtic icon, Jamaica star, ex-Man Utd prospect – Stoke City’s Championship rivals set hot transfer pace
The most recent additions from the Championship as the Potters’ competitors continue to assemble their roster
As the division’s summer strengthening picks up speed, Championship clubs have had a busy few days in the transfer
market.
The most busy player over the weekend was Mark Robins, who signed two new players in an attempt to make an
impression at the bet365 stadium. In a single day, the Potters acquired forward Divin Mubama on a season-long loan
from Manchester City and Plymouth defender Maksym Talovierov.
Talovierov has signed a three-year deal and the pair join Sorba Thomas as new signings in the summer transfer
window. Talovierov has signed for an undisclosed fee after just six-months at Argyle where he became a firm
favourite following his move from LASK.
Former West Ham trainee Mubama arrives off the back of a debut season at City in which he netted his first senior
goal for the club in a 8-0 romp against Salford in the FA Cup.
Birmingham City

Kyogo Furuhashi from French top-flight side Rennes for an undisclosed fee.
Blues have secured the Japan international on a three-year deal following their return to the Championship as
League One champions.
Furuhashi scored 85 goals in 165 appearances during his time at Celtic and was the Scottish Premiership’s leading
scorer in the 2022-23 season with 27 goals.
He then joined Rennes in January for £10m but is back in Britain just six months later with Chris Davies’ newly-
promoted side, despite being heavily linked with a return to Celtic. The 30-year-old is their sixth new signing of the
summer.
Charlton Athletic
Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones has returned to his former club Luton Town to sign defender Amari’i Bell – a
player he previously took to Kenilworth Road.
After his contract with the Hatters expired this summer, the 31-year-old signed a two-year contract with the recently
promoted Addicks on a free transfer.
After joining Luton in 2021, the Jamaican player assisted the team in earning promotion to the Premier League two
years later. He was a regular on the team that was demoted to League One the previous season and played 21 games
in the Premier League before to Luton’s relegation a year ago.
Bell, who has 28 Jamaican caps, scored in a Concacaf Gold Cup encounter against Panama last month.
“Amari’i’s someone I know well. I signed him at Luton and he did fantastically well for me,” Jones told the club
website.
Ipswich
Kieran McKenna has tied down Ipswich Town striker George Hirst for another four years after the player has signed
a new contract at the club.
Since joining on loan from Leicester City in January 2023, Hirst, 26, has made 81 appearances and scored 19 goals.
Six months later, he made the move permanent.
He earned his Scotland debut in March and contributed to the team’s consecutive promotions from League One to
the Premier League.
Hirst said on the club’s website, saying, “I am really happy to have signed a new deal, and I have enjoyed every single
day at the club since joining.”
