Celtic ‘raise’ Jakob Breum transfer offer with winger search surging as Daizen Maeda to Brentford addressed

Celtic ‘raise’ Jakob Breum transfer offer with winger search surging as Daizen Maeda to Brentford addressed.

Brendan Rodgers wants to add more firepower to the Scottish champions’ frontline this summer.

Celtic have reportedly increased their offer for Go Ahead Eagles star Jakob Breum.

Brendan Rodgers is looking for wide men and is reportedly interested in the 21-year-old this summer.

The Hoops are in desperate need of flank reinforcements after Nicolas Kuhn joined Como for £17.2 million, while Jota is out until next year, leaving Celtic short on options.

Antwerp’s Belgian winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha is on their radar, and Sarpsborg sporting director Hampus Andersson has left the door open for Celtic to renew their interest in Sondre Orjasaeter this summer.

However, the Glasgow Times reports that interest in Breum is increasing after an initial £1.5 million offer was rejected.

The Scottish champions are said to have returned with a £1.75 million offer, which included add-ons, but it has now been increased to £3 million “put on the table.

” The Eagles are reportedly asking £6.5 million for Breum, with the Dutch Cup holders refusing to accept a “knockdown” offer.

In terms of outgoings, Brentford are reportedly interested in signing versatile forward Daizen Maeda to replace Bryan Mbeumo, who has moved to Manchester United.

Despite Maeda’s statement that his focus is on the Hoops heading into the new season, speculation has persisted amid reports of a £25 million valuation from Parkhead officials.

However, former Celtic player Charlie Mulgrew believes the time is not right for the Japan international to join the Premier League.

Mulgrew told Go Radio, “He could probably handle the Premier League with that pace and power.” There’s a lot of speed and power down there now.

“There is a lot of off-the-ball pressing, which he excels at, as well as counter-pressing. He counterpresses teams on his own. “As soon as he loses it in their third, he chases three or four men, and he’s a pleasure to play with.

“As a defender, when someone presses that high on the pitch. It makes your job much easier because you can stand on the halfway queue and receive people’s rush passes. “He can do it down south.

But he’s approaching 30 now, so I doubt he’ll go.
