Celtic will receive an unexpected windfall in La Liga transfers.

Six months after the Hoops made £4 million from sending Alexandro Bernabei to Brazil, La Liga team Sevilla is considering a big-money deal for the player, which may provide Celtic an unexpected windfall.

After making an impression while on loan, the Argentine full-back joined Internacional in Brazil’s Serie A in January and is predicted to be called up for Argentina, the world champions.

Sevilla has taken notice of his performances and dispatched scouts to watch him twice, including during his most recent match against Juventude. They plan to make a move for him when the Spanish transfer window reopens in July.

Bernabei signed a three-year contract in South America, but it is thought Celtic insisted on a sell-on provision when they finalized the transaction earlier this year.

After reporting a £6 million loss last month, his team is trying to sell some of its best players in order to make major financial cuts.

After threatening to be relegated from La Liga, Sevilla had a dismal season and is looking to improve for the upcoming campaign.

Bernabei is their objective. Since joining Celtic from Lanus in 2022, Bernabei has made 28 appearances and scored one goal at Ross County.
