Blackburn had a peculiar season since, under John Eustace, they got off to a great start and appeared certain to qualify for the Championship play-offs.

However, Rovers had a difficult transition under Valerien Ismael and quickly fell down the table after Eustace left ship and joined Derby County.

After a recent comeback, Blackburn was on the verge of finishing in the top six on the last day of the season, but they lost to Sheffield United in the end.

Rovers will have to play in the Championship again, but without their best player Tyrhys Dolan, who is set to depart this summer on a free transfer.

According to information obtained by transfer specialist Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis can exclusively disclose that Dolan, whose contract expires next month, is being pursued by several teams; nevertheless, it appears that Middlesbrough is presently leading the competition for his services.

We have been informed that Dolan will indeed leave when his contract expires, and the exceptionally gifted winger has already discussed a possible transfer with Boro executives.

Naturally, other teams are interested, but Middlesbrough is reportedly keen to outbid their rivals in the summer transfer window in order to make up for the disappointment of losing out on the play-offs.

Although Michael Carrick’s future is still uncertain, Middlesbrough wants to expand their roster, especially in the wide areas, and Dolan is a good alternative.

The indications of Dolan’s departure were already present. Todd Cantwell, a teammate, recently intimated on Instagram that Dolan would move on, and Valerien Ismael acknowledged that he is also concerned about losing the talent.

They have good reason to be worried, too. Dolan, who finished the season with seven goals and six assists for Blackburn, was by far Rovers’ most creative and dangerous player.

The former Manchester City academy star has emerged as one of the Championship’s best players this year, and at just 23, he still has a lot more to offer.

Blackburn will undoubtedly be saddened by the loss, and it will be interesting to see if and how they can replace such a vital player given the circumstances at Ewood Park.
