Championship star has had his head turned amid emerging links to Leeds United, and fans aren’t pleased

Leeds United could spend big this summer. And one player they might spend a chunk of money on is Ipswich Town’s Dara O’Shea.

Daniel Farke is a man with a goal this summer. Despite leading Leeds United to the Championship title last season, there were instant reports that the club intended to sack Farke ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
He has kept his job for the time being. However, he will be aware that a disastrous summer transfer window and a poor start to the 2025/26 season could result in him being dubbed the season’s first managerial casualty.

Leeds United have a £150 million transfer budget for this summer, and Farke is set to spend it all, potentially on only a few of players, with free transfers and loans likely to play a significant role in determining Leeds’ summer.

Dara O’Shea is Farke’s new aim in defence, which sorely needs new names. Recent sources suggest that Leeds United are interested in bringing O’Shea to Elland Road this summer, following his £15 million move from Burnley in the summer of 2024.

Leeds United are not alone in their pursuit of Republic of Ireland international O’Shea this summer. It is also understood that Burnley and Wolves are interested in signing the 26-year-old, who played 35 Premier League games for Ipswich Town in 2024/25.

And, recently, former West Brom player O’Shea has spoken out about his future at Ipswich Town. But he hasn’t completely dismissed speculations of a Portman Road escape, saying: “I’m fully committed to Ipswich at the moment.” I have another four years there, and I want to get the team back to the Premier League. As a player, I have high ambitions.

“Obviously, I want to play in the Premier League, but I understand it’s not simple. Whatever occurs in football is for a purpose. You have a journey, and you have to stick to it at times.”
