South London Sport says that Charlton Athletic is close to signing Blackpool winger Rob Apter on a permanent basis.

Charlton Athletic are preparing for life in the Championship following their victory in the League One play-offs. CAFC has exciting days ahead of it, and its summer recruitment drive has already begun.

With a new era beginning under the Fluid name, Nathan Jones plans to put his trust in several of the players that helped achieve promotion. However, it is widely acknowledged that the squad will require additional depth and proven Championship quality to take the move up.

The South London side is also looking for rising talent who can develop into significant long-term assets. One such target is winger Rob Apter, who exactly matches that criteria, and a deal appears to be close.

According to South London Sport, Charlton Athletic are close to signing Apter. The winger will be CAFC’s sixth addition of the summer, putting them in strong position for the Championship.

Apter is highly regarded by Blackpool manager Steve Bruce. If this goes through, they may have made a wise decision.

What to Expect From Apter

Apter began his career in the Tranmere Rovers academy before going to Blackpool, but it was at Prenton Park that he first made an impact in the EFL.

Following successful loan spells with Bamber Bridge, Chester, and Scunthorpe United, he returned to Tranmere for the 2023/24 season. He impressed once more, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists in 40 League Two appearances, earning a position in Blackpool’s first-team squad the following season.

Apter rose to prominence under Bruce, appearing 50 times across all competitions and recording eight goals and eight assists. While predominantly used on the right side, he also demonstrated versatility by playing attacking midfield and on the left flank.

Raid the Tangerines

Apter is expected to be the Addicks’ second signing of the summer from Blackpool. CAFC has already brought Sonny Carey down south from Blackpool.
