Charlton given injury boost for Leicester clash as Nathan Jones asks for ‘one more’ key transfer

Returnees from championships This Saturday, Charlton Athletic takes on newly relegated Leicester City, and one of their summer additions could strengthen the home team’s roster.

The Addicks have a healthy team and are well-positioned going into the match against the Foxes, with the exception of newcomer and outfield striker Matty Godden, who had knee surgery this summer.

Charlton, who have won and drawn their first two games back in the second division, will be hoping that their strong home performance will allow them to win all three points against a struggling Leicester team. The Foxes lost to Preston North End 2-1 in their most recent game, and Bilal El Khannouss is getting close to joining Crystal Palace after losing players like Jamie Vardy.

Ahead of the teams’ first encounter in eleven years, Addicks manager Nathan Jones has announced that a new signing is back in full training, while Leicester fears further departures.

Reece Burke, a former defender for Luton Town, has returned to full Charlton training

Jones said that Reece Burke is returned to full training. This summer, the 28-year-old joined Thomas Kaminski, Amari’i Bell, and Jones’ former team, Luton Town.

Burke participated in his new team’s preseason friendly against Dartford in July. Burke played alongside Addicks captain Greg Docherty at Hull City.

He hasn’t yet made his competitive debut, though, after suffering an injury before to the season.

Prior to the game this weekend, Jones has now verified that he is back with the team.

During his press conference in Leicester, the Welshman stated, “Reece Burke has returned to full training this week.” “Compared to before, we are in a better position now.”

After the Addicks put Alex Mitchell, another center-half, on loan to Plymouth Argyle, there were rumors that Burke would be healthy again. Jones asserted that his club’s transfer transaction is still ongoing.

Before the transfer window closes, Nathan Jones wants to sign “one body” in a crucial position

During his news conference, the Addicks manager also stated that he wants to add at least one more player for a certain position.

According to Graeme Bailey, the football transfer correspondent for EFL Analysis, Charlton is still “looking” at Shinnosuke Fukuda of Kyoto Sanga. Meanwhile, there has been no update on the signing of Wolves right wing back Dexter Lembikisa, a trialist.

With Thierry Small leaving for Preston at the beginning of the transfer window, the Addicks are especially in need of reinforcements at right wing back.

Jones stated, “What we probably want to do is add at least one body,” in reference to the tasks the south-east London club still needs to complete. We are aware of the role we require. Perhaps we want to ensure that our numbers are good in order to do that.

“The club has been fantastic in supporting us, and they trusted us to develop the assets and put players out.” That’s what we’ve done. Gassan [Ahadme] got off to a great start and made a wise transfer [to Stevenage]. A move has been made by Alex Mitchell. Kaheim [Dixon] is in a great position in Crawley, where he has gone.

“It is crucial that we continue to develop the asset and send them to the appropriate clubs even if they are not going to affect us right now.”

Charlton has had a successful transfer window thus far, bringing in Harvey Knibbs of Reading and Charlie Kelman, the League One Golden Boot winner from QPR.
