After this weekend’s last friendly, Charlton Athletic will have a few days to reorganise their team, whether that means training or bringing in new players. Deals should continue for weeks to come, though, since clubs will have until the end of August to complete their summer business. According to reports, Charlton Athletic has withdrawn from the competition to recruit Harvey Knibbs, a star at Reading. The Addicks were predicted to sign the offensive midfielder for £1.8 million. Knibbs performed inall bar three of Reading’s league games the previous season and was getting close to making a move to the Championship. Although Knibbs was reportedly present at the Charlton training facility, the transaction is now reportedly over. Noel Hunt, the Reading manager, told RoyalsTV Whatever occurred, I’m not entirely certain. I’ll discuss that with Harvey this morning. It’s clear that something wasn’t quite right, though I’m not sure if Harvey was to blame.
