Chelsea might just have helped Thomas Frank do something no other Tottenham manager has done in history
Both Chelsea and Tottenham have had a busy summer thus far.
After replacing Ange Postecoglou in the dugout with Thomas Frank, Spurs are demonstrating their true ambition in the transfer
market by spending £55 million on Mohammed Kudus and £30 million on Mathys Tel. Additionally, a £60 million deal for Morgan
Gibbs-White is in the works.
After acquiring Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, and Joao Pedro, Chelsea defeated PSG 3-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup final to win the
title of world champions.
When the UEFA Super Cup starts on August 13th, Tottenham will play the French powerhouses themselves, and Chelsea might have
just provided Spurs with a strategy for defeating the Parisians.
Thomas Frank will feel he can beat PSG after witnessing Chelsea masterclass

Maresca accomplished this feat in New Jersey by implementing a 4-2-3-1 configuration, with the inverted Reece James playing a
significant role.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was nullified by having the England international tucked inside with Malo Gusto at right-back. This gave Cole
Palmer plenty of space down the right, which the Chelsea No. 10 took great advantage of, scoring twice and helping Joao Pedro in 43
minutes.
Interestingly, Frank has the means to accomplish the same, and the Dane, who usually wore a 4-2-3-1 configuration at Brentford,
shouldn’t have much of a shift in such a system.
While Pedro Porro possesses the technical ability to perform the same job James did inverted, Djed Spence also mimics the Gusto role,
and the previously mentioned Kudus has a similar profile to Palmer, usually lining up on the right where he cuts inside on his left foot
to devastating effect.
No Tottenham manager has ever won a trophy in their first official match in charge, so if this blueprint does help Frank win the UEFA
Super Cup, history would be made.
Tottenham could be even stronger before the UEFA Super Cup commences
Gibbs-White should be a Tottenham player before this clash in Udine, and more could follow the England international in time for the
meeting with PSG.
Frank is looking for a new centre midfield player to draw the strings, and Spurs have Adam Wharton on their radar. However, it might
be difficult to recruit the England international because he still has four years left on his Crystal Palace deal, which does not include a
release clause.

Palhinha of Bayern Munich could also join Spurs this summer.
Frank may therefore have an even more formidable team by the time the UEFA Super Cup rolls around.
