City Ground hero among three options who could replace Antonio Dias at Nottingham Forest

This morning, reports surfaced that Nottingham Forest assistant António Dias would be leaving the club to join José Mourinho in Turkey.

He is expected to become Fenerbahçe’s assistant manager ahead of next season, as the club aims to win the league title and dethrone rivals Galatasaray.

Nottingham Forest is set to embark on a European campaign for the first time in decades, following qualification to the Europa Conference League.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo is currently without an assistant. Here are three potential replacements for António Dias.

Chris Cohen

A fan favourite at Nottingham Forest, having joined the club and spent 11 years with them, including periods in the Championship and League One.

He made 303 appearances in the Forest red jersey, scoring 17 goals.

Following his retirement, he was appointed first-team coach at Luton Town by Nathan Jones, leaving Forest, where he was head coach of the Under-23s.

Cohen joined Jones at Southampton before the Welsh manager was fired from the Premier League club, and the former Nottingham Forest player went on to join Tom Shaw at Lincoln City.

He is back at Lincoln City in the same position following a period at Stoke City, but he is well-regarded by other coaches and has many years of experience; a move to Forest would make sense.

Joao Lapa

When Nuno Espírito Santo joins a new club, he typically brings a trusted coaching staff with him.

João Lapa worked with Santo at Wolves and Spurs before joining Famalicão in a similar role.

With the vacancy at Nottingham Forest, he might be the man Santo chooses to fill it, since he is a man he can rely on to produce. Lapa’s job at Famalicão ends in 2023, indicating he is currently unemployed.

Andy Reid

The former Ireland international is currently employed by Nottingham Forest; nevertheless, he may be promoted as a result of this revelation.

Reid is now a first-team coach, having previously worked in the academy.

He excelled in this job, and it was viewed as the ideal step for him to advance to a senior coaching position with the club.

This promotion would allow Santo to bring in potential young coach Eduardo, who is currently excelling as part of Braga’s coaching team.

Promoting Reid would allow Santo to bring in a fellow Portuguese coach, as he seeks to assemble the best coaching team possible.
