Conor Chaplin and Leif Davis react to emotional Sam Morsy, Ipswich Town exit message
Sam Morsy has sent an emotional message to the fans of Ipswich Town after leaving the team.
When he moved to Ipswich from Middlesbrough in 2021, he helped guide this unique bunch of players to something
neither he nor the supporters imagined.
All members of Town’s first team, but especially the captain, were forever immortalised by their back-to-back
promotions that allowed them to play in the Premier League.
They will always be proud of their accomplishment, even though things didn’t go as planned after they arrived at the
top.
Ipswich players react to Sam Morsy’s departure
After Ipswich was relegated, Morsy quit the team. The Egyptian international bid farewell to the Town supporters
before joining Kuwait SC, a team in the Middle East.
The 33-year-old stated in an Instagram post: “This has definitely been the best time in my life and career. I think my
performances during my first few months here reflect the difficult mental state I was in when I joined the club in
2021.
“But you never gave up on me and supported me unconditionally, showing me so much love. Me and my family will
always be grateful for that…
“Thank you to everyone who sacrificed so much and pushed through all the boundaries in the pursuit of success. To a
special group of men who achieved a special accomplishment – you will all forever be in my heart.
“So all that’s left is to say a huge thank you to the fans and thank you to my teammates, the manager, his coaching
staff and everyone at the training ground, who have all put up with me for the last few years.

“We created history, and I have no doubt the team will do likewise in the future. Continue running towards adversity
while taking care of yourself. Best wishes, Skip.
The loss of their captain will be felt by his teammates. Conor Chaplin, who has accompanied Morsy on this incredible
journey through Suffolk, said: “You should be proud of what you’ve done for this club.” Mate X, congrats on a
fantastic stint.
Leading left-back Leif Davis responded to the Egyptian’s post in a somewhat more straightforward manner. “My
brother,” the defence attorney said.
While several of his former teammates, including Massimo Luongo, Dara O’Shea, and Cameron Burgess, all sent
emoji-only comments expressing their love for their former captain, attacker Ali Al Hamadi wrote: “Don’t make
them like this anymore.”
Sam Morsy will be missed by everyone connected with Ipswich Town

He was named captain only a few months into his time at Town, although he was a reliable player both before and
during Kieran McKenna’s incredible term as manager.
The fact that he started 86 of the 92 games Ipswich played during their two second-place seasons in 2022–2023 and
2023–2024 is a remarkable testament to his overall quality and durability, traits that will be missed going forward
and in the upcoming season.
For his outstanding four years of service, Morsy will always be regarded in Suffolk as one of the club’s best servants
and one of their most successful leaders in recent memory.
