Cornwall traffic notices for May: road closures and diversions.

Essential road closures and diversions in Cornwall this May, affecting Ludgvan, Fraddam, Townshend, Mousehole, and Newlyn, as vital works begin across the region

Cornwall Council has issued a series of public notices announcing multiple temporary road closures throughout the region to facilitate essential work. These closures, imposed under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, will affect several communities, including Ludgvan, Fraddam, Townshend, Mousehole, and Newlyn.

Ludgvan

On Friday, May 9, 2025, traffic will be temporarily prohibited on Church Hill in Ludgvan. This closure is necessary to ensure safety while engineers work on an overhead structure. The road will be closed from 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on weekdays only. An alternative route will be provided on-site. Fraddam

Deveral Road in Fraddam will be closed between numbers 38 and 39 on Monday, May 19 and Friday, May 23, 2025. The closure is required to facilitate construction of a new water source. Townshend

The Godolphin Bridge in Townshend will be closed from Monday, May 19 to Friday, May 23, 2025 for fibre infrastructure work. This closure will remain in effect all day, including weekends. For more information, call Dave Avery at LTraffic Ltd on 0800 222 9871 or email info@ltraffic.co.uk.

Mousehole

Gurnick Street in Mousehole will be closed from Thursday, May 22, to Saturday, May 24, 2025, for water connection work. The closure will be in effect around the clock, including weekends. Kier can provide more information at the number listed above.

Newlyn

Finally, Gwavas Quay and The Strand in Newlyn will be closed from Tuesday, May 6 to Friday, May 16, 2025 for cable installation. The closure is only scheduled to last all day on weekdays. For further information, please contact National Grid at 01209 616614 or email Mbrittonl@nationalgrid.co.uk.
