Coventry City handed ‘big’ warning as Sheffield United lodge £8m bid for star defender

Latest Coventry City transfer news as the future of Bobby Thomas remains uncertain

Frank Lampard has been warned of a “big loss” if Coventry City allows outstanding defender Bobby Thomas to leave.

It comes as allegations emerged that Championship rivals Sheffield United had made a bid of up to £8 million for the 24-year-old centre-half.
According to the Star, Lampard and Co. will need to figure out defensive reinforcements before allowing anyone to leave the CBS Arena this summer, having already sold Luis Binks to Danes Bronby.
Ex-Blade Lee Hendrie believes signing Thomas would be a huge coup for his former club, but he has also issued a strong caution to the Sky Blues.

“Bobby Thomas, when he went to Coventry, people were thinking was he going to be a good signing, and he has been. That’s why they accepted Sheffield United’s £8 million deal for him, Hendrie told Football League World.
“I understand, but I think it’d be a big loss for Coventry if this happened just because you do all your work during pre-season and then disrupt what you have.” “£8 million, I’m sure that that’ll be looked at and certainly viewed, but I think it’d be a loss for Coventry and a good coup for Sheffield United, again just bolstering that defence.”

Thomas is now in his third season as a Sky Blue, having started both league games this season against Derby County and Hull City, as well as last week’s Carabao Cup match against Luton Town.
