After failing to gain promotion to the Premier League both Coventry City and Norwich City will play in the Championship next season. However, they could be set to secure a promotion winning defender from Nottingham Forest this summer transfer window.
Nottingham Forest has had a fantastic season and is on the verge of qualifying for European football. The possibility of Champions League qualification will come down to the final matchday, when they meet Chelsea at home.
Harry Toffolo, a former Huddersfield Town and Lincoln City defender, appears unlikely to join his present side as they return to continental action.
His name is set to appear on the released part of the club’s retained list once his three-year contract expires.
Coventry City and Norwich City Battle for Harry Toffolo Transfer as Nottingham Forest Contract Ends
Harry Toffolo’s contract is slated to expire, so he will be available for free transfer this summer. The opportunity to sign the 29-year-old veteran left-back for free has piqued the interest of numerous Championship clubs. According to FLW, Coventry City and Norwich City are two of the clubs interested in signing him this summer.
Toffolo will be no stranger to the Canaries, having progressed through their junior system before moving on to Millwall. He then moved to Lincoln City in 2018 and shone for the Imps, playing a key role as they won League Two. The defender played regularly at Sincil Bank, earning him a move to Huddersfield Town in 2020. He would go on to make nearly 100 appearances, including a Championship play-off final loss against current club Nottingham Forest.
With such a high churn of players at the City Ground, he found his gametime limited and only made four Premier League appearances in the 2025/26 season, totaling 129 minutes.
