According to Coventry City’s retained list, two players have had options activated to stay with the team for an additional year, while four players whose contracts expire this summer are leaving.
Frank Lampard extended Jamie Allen’s tenure at the club to seven years until the summer of 2026 by picking up a one-year option on the midfielder’s existing contract, making him one senior player remaining.
During his first six months in charge, head coach Lampard couldn’t have been more complimentary of the epitome of professionalism, stating that the 29-year-old is an excellent role model for younger players.
“What Jamie’s done has been so impressive to me because of his attitude when he wasn’t playing,” Lampard added, speaking about his contributions to the squad during the past season. His training methods outside of the squad were the reason he showed up and performed so well. I have a lot of respect for him since he works, doesn’t talk much, and gets on with his work.”
Meanwhile, Jamie Paterson’s brief but sweet tenure with his local team is over, and when his contract officially expires at the end of next month, he will join the recently relegated Plymouth Argyle in League One.
Young goalie Luke Bell, who came up through the Sky Blues Academy, has been given a one-year extension after the club activated an option in his contract. Meanwhile, fellow goalie Cian Tyler is joining Jack Burroughs and Ryan Howley, two other players from the senior development squad, in leaving the team after being released.
Jack Burroughs, Ryan Howley, Jamie Paterson (short-term contract expiration), Cian Tyler, Aston Ellard, Daniel Rachel, Kain Ryan, and Jayden Smith were all released.
Luke Bell and Jamie Allen were chosen as options.
Returning loan players include Justin Obikwu, Riccardo Di Trolio, Aidan Dausch, and Kai Andrews.
