Craig Bellamy has just named two Cardiff City players set for ‘really big’ Wales futures.
The Thanks to their strong performances at the beginning of the League One season for Cardiff, the Bluebirds’ production line appears to be in excellent shape. Craig Bellamy has identified two Cardiff City young players he thinks will be crucial to Wales in the years to come.
Joel Colwill was given a senior call-up by the new Wales manager this week after Rubin, the 19-year-old midfielder’s brother, was hurt during Cardiff’s 4-0 victory against Plymouth. Joel could make his debut in Tuesday’s friendly match against Canada in Swansea, despite not being used as a substitute in Thursday night’s 1-0 triumph over Kazakhstan.
Bellamy is in no doubt about the teenager’s potential, having tracked his progress closely in the past year.
“He’s a player I’ve seen for a while,” he told the BBC.
Last year, I enjoyed watching him at Cheltenham as well. I think he will be able to advance in the years to come. He’s a player who truly matches my preferred profile. “I adore his enthusiasm, dedication to the team, and overall character. He will undoubtedly be a significant player for Wales in a number of years, in my opinion.

It follows Dylan Lawlor, another graduate of Cardiff’s academy, who won man of the match for his outstanding senior debut at centre-back in the victory over Kazakhstan. After Joe Rodon withdrew, the 19-year-old was draughted in and put on a strong performance in the centre of defence. Bellamy lavished praise on Lawlor before and after the match, stating that he has the skill to challenge Wales’ more seasoned defenders in the near future.
