Dame Robina Shah appointed to Oldham Athletic board
Oldham Athletic have appointed Dame Robina Shah as a new director, in an advisory capacity.
A highly respected and prominent figure for her work in public sector governance at local, regional and national level, Dame Robina has a wealth of experience in community work, healthcare and sport, and has been a driving force for positive change in Oldham for many years.
And it is through this that the 62-year-old will advise the Latics board on matters relating to strategic intent, with her appointment marking a significant step in the club’s continued commitment to building stronger links with the local community.
Dame Robina has played a leading role as a non-executive director of Northern Care Alliance, including work to improve patient care and staff wellbeing at Royal Oldham Hospital.
Her leadership has been instrumental in developing partnerships between the hospital and local organisations.
Dame Robina is also a Professor of Medical Education and Psycho-social Medicine at the University of Manchester Medical School, receiving the title of Dame of the British Empire in the 2023 New Year Honours list.
In addition to her contributions to healthcare, Dame Robina has also held a number of leadership roles within the FA, as a member of the FA Council, Ambassador for Women’s Football, Vice-Chair of the FA Disability Football Committee and a Trustee of the FA Benevolent Fund.
She has also led on key initiatives around equality, diversity, and access to grassroots football with Manchester FA.
Of her appointment to the board, Dame Robina said: “It is a real privilege to join the Board of Directors at Oldham Athletic. This is a club with a rich history and I can only see growth for the club.
“I am excited to play a part in the club’s future, and I’m passionate about working alongside the current directors to strengthen community ties and help the club thrive on and off the pitch.”

Dame Robina’s appointment is subject to the necessary approval from the EFL.
