Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl was in a much better mood after his side’s Easter Monday victory.
A 2-1 win against Middlesbrough at Hillsborough saw Wednesday come back from a goal down with goals from Josh Windass and Anthony Musaba to earn a first home win since New Year’s Day.
The result saw Boro miss a chance to move into the Championship play-off spots and was a much-needed improvement after the disappointing result against Stoke City on Good Friday.
Rohl accused some players of not being good enough to play for the Owls but after the most recent win, the German revealed what was said to inspire the win.
Danny Rohl reacts to Sheffield Wednesday’s comeback win vs Middlesbrough
It’s been a busy week for Wednesday after reports claimed Moroccan billionaire has been eyeing up the club and that Sefrioui is keeping tabs on Dejphon Chansiri’s stance ahead of a prospective bid.
Couple that with Rohl’s public outburst last week in which he accused some players of not being able to play his style of football, it’s not been dull at Hillsborough, but the Owls boss revealed that he had spoken to the players after there were some suggestions that the comments hadn’t gone down too well in the dressing room.
“My players know that I am always honest to them,” he told The Sheffield Star. “We had a lot of meetings after the game and in these meetings I wanted to explain what I meant in this direction, what I meant after the game.
“Of course in this moment people can think a different way about what I did. I do not do this very often and in this moment I said what I felt. We (he and the players) said what we needed to say in the last 48 hours.
“I love my players and it was not the point. In this division, to make steps sideways instead of forwards means you make steps back. I am ambitious, it was for me so that everybody feels the manager is still ambitious to achieve something this season. I always make a reflection on myself. I tried to explain to my team and that was important, to give them the feeling that I am a human too”
Will Danny Rohl stay at Sheffield Wednesday?
The million dollar question…
Rohl is ambitious to say the least and the work done with Wednesday has gathered plenty of attention.
Southampton are interested Rohl and the German could also be on Leicester City’s radar.
If the Owls can match the 35-year-old’s plans then there is every chance he could say. Sheffield Wednesday is a massive club but, there seems to be a growing consensus to suggest that this will be his final season here.
