David Beckham sends Tom Wagner message after Birmingham City Sports Quarter breakthrough.

English football icon. Last season, David Beckham visited St Andrew’s to watch Birmingham City beat Wrexham.
David Beckham has congratulated Birmingham people’s ownership on a historic day for the club and the people of Birmingham. On Wednesday, it was reported that the government had allocated funds to build a tram route from the city centre to the location of the Sports Quarter, which will become Blues’ future home. Tom Wagner welcomed West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker and Chancellor Rachel Reeves to St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on Wednesday afternoon to commemorate the historic agreement.
Wagner and his Knighthead colleagues will now be free to move on with planning and, once permitted, begin digging at their side in east Birmingham. The American billionaire thinks that the total property will be ‘upwards of 125 acres’ when all is said and done. Wagner told club TV cameras: “This is a huge occasion for Blues. We secured the necessary government backing to make the Sports Quarter a reality, allowing us to build our new house just a stone’s throw from St Andrews.
“The only significant challenge we encountered was finding a feasible transport solution to get all of our supporters, fans, workers and other community members into and out of the Sports Quarter on a regular basis. “That is no longer uncertain.”
