Exclusive: David Prutton raves over “superb” Sheffield United star – He could have big say v Sunderland

Harrison Burrows – Sheffield United

Pundit David Prutton was full of praise for Sheffield United’s Harrison Burrows after he played a significant role in their stroll towards the play-off final.

The Blades dismantled Bristol City over the two legs, taking a commanding 3-0 lead from Ashton Gate, before compounding the Robins even further back at Bramall Lane, with Chris Wilder’s men securing another 3-0 win on the evening to make it a 7-0 scoreline on aggregate.

It’s the heaviest scoreline ever to be produced in Championship play-off history, rather highlighting the growing gulf in quality between the sides coming down from the Premier League compared to other Championship mainstays.

Nevertheless, the Yorkshire outfit will have their shot at an instant return to the top-flight at Wembley on the 24th May, when they take on Sunderland, who produced a last-gasp winner in extra time to edge out Frank Lampard’s Coventry City.

As Sheffield United piled misery on Bristol City over the play-off semi-final, Harrison Burrows was exceptional in both games in the left-back role, converting from 12 yards to get the goalscoring underway at Ashton Gate and adding an assist, before setting up his teammates twice back at Bramall Lane, taking his total to one goal and three assists from the two outings.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, pundit David Prutton believed that Harrison Burrows was “superb” in both games against Bristol City, playing a vital role in the Blades’ routine victory and march to Wembley.

Prutton said: “Harrison Burrows over the two legs was superb, Sheffield United over three-quarters of the two legs was superb. He’s really stepped up from Peterborough, adapted to the level very quickly and shown such composure to get the goalscoring started in the first leg and I think he plays in that dynamic way that Chris (Wilder) absolutely adores about his wider defensive players.

“He’s very quick to get forward, good at one-v-one defending and a really athletic, agile part of what is a very good Blades side.”

Harrison Burrows has another huge role to play in Sheffield United play-off success

The added creative spark from Harrison Burrows was huge for Sheffield United to overcome Bristol City in the manner that they did, with his performances over the two legs typifying the strong regular campaign he’s had in his first season at Bramall Lane.

In games of such monumental pressure, Burrows stood up and made himself counted, relentless at pushing forward to provide danger from the flanks, as well as being resolute in his defensive duties to help prevent the Robins from netting a goal over the two legs.

The Blades will need that kind of service once again from their defenders to give Sunderland defenders a headache at Wembley, and if Burrows can replicate those types of displays, then you would certainly make Sheffield United even further favourites than they currently are to return to the promised land of the Premier League.
