‘Delighted’ – Steve Bruce explains why ex-Huddersfield Town figure stood out to Blackpool

Steve Bruce has shared his thoughts on Blackpool’s newest addition.

Blackpool boss Steve Bruce believes Fraser Horsfall will bring the exact qualities the Seasiders need to get to where they want next season.

After his contract with Stockport County expires next month, the defender, who has signed a four-year contract, will formally transfer to Bloomfield Road.

Bruce is happy to have the 28-year-old join his team and hopes he can help Blackpool become a competitive force in League One. Bruce will be looking for a busy summer before his first full season on the Fylde Coast.
He told the Seasiders’ internal media, “Fraser comes after a great season that has made him very sought after this summer.”

Fraser exhibits the leadership traits we need to compete at the high end of our division, so we’re thrilled to have someone of his caliber signed early.

Horsfall’s career so far

Horsfall was loaned to many non-league teams after rising through the ranks at Huddersfield Town, although he never made an appearance for the Terriers first team.
He spent his final short-term stay away from John Smith’s Stadium with the Kidderminster Harriers before relocating there permanently in 2017.

The defender joined Northampton Town after spending two seasons at Aggborough and one EFL season with Macclesfield Town.

Horsfall was able to reach 100 club appearances during his tenure at Sixfields, and he finished with 12 goals overall.

He joined Stockport County back in 2022, and he has been there for the last three years.

The 28-year-old played 31 games for the Hatters in their most recent season in the third division after being a member of the club that achieved promotion from League Two during his tenure at Edgeley Park.

Horsfall leaves the Greater Manchester team with 122 appearances overall, eight goals scored during that time, including one during the most recent playoffs.
