Derby County Agree Deal for Luton Town Striker Carlton Morris
Derby County have reportedly reached an agreement with Luton Town over the signing of striker Carlton Morris, as manager John Eustace begins shaping his squad ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season.
According to a report from The Telegraph, the Rams have agreed a transfer fee with Luton for the 29-year-old forward, who is expected to undergo a medical next week upon his return from annual leave.
The deal marks a significant early move in the transfer window for Derby, as they look to reinforce their attacking options in a bid to establish themselves as promotion contenders following their solid showing last season.
Morris has been a standout performer for Luton Town over recent years, playing a pivotal role in their promotion to the Premier League in 2023 and contributing consistently during their top-flight campaign.
Despite Luton’s eventual relegation, Morris earned praise for his tireless work rate, aerial prowess, and knack for scoring crucial goals. His experience in both the Championship and the Premier League makes him a valuable addition to Derby’s frontline.
It is believed that John Eustace identified Morris early in the summer as a top target to lead the line for the Rams. Derby struggled for goals at times last season and the acquisition of a proven goalscorer is seen as essential to boosting their attacking output. With the striker now set for a medical, it appears the deal is nearing completion barring any late hitches.
Morris, who began his career at Norwich City, has also had spells at Rotherham United, Shrewsbury Town, and Barnsley before joining Luton Town in 2022. Since then, he has developed into one of the most dependable strikers outside the Premier League, with his physical presence, intelligent movement, and eye for goal making him a tough opponent for any defence.
Derby’s move for Morris also sends a strong message to their Championship rivals about their intent ahead of the new season. The club has been relatively quiet in the early stages of the summer window, but this signing suggests that Eustace and the Derby board are serious about assembling a competitive squad.
Supporters will no doubt be encouraged by the club’s ambition in securing a player of Morris’s calibre. If the deal is finalised as expected, he could join the squad in time for pre-season training, offering him a full run-up to the new campaign to build chemistry with his teammates.
More signings are expected in the coming weeks, with Eustace reportedly keen to add reinforcements in midfield and defence as well. For now, though, the potential arrival of Carlton Morris stands as a major boost to Derby County’s promotion hopes, and fans will be eagerly awaiting official confirmation from the club.
