On Derby’s alleged ‘raid’ of Blackburn Rovers this summer, former English Football League (EFL) player Don Goodman has offered his thoughts.

Since John Eustace took Paul Warne’s position back in February, there have been rumors that he will be reconciling with some of his previous stars at Ewood Park.
These rumors are now even more widespread, weeks after Derby’s spot in the Sky Bet Championship for the upcoming season was solidified, and only days before the summer transfer market opens.
According to reports, Eustace is eager to bring both Danny Batth and Andreas Weimann, whom he bought for Rovers a year ago, to the East Midlands in a double swoop of free transfers.
“I think the Derby County recruitment is going to be absolutely fascinating this summer,” Goodman told Football League World.
“I am aware that John Eustace, who played for Blackburn Rovers, knows Andy Weimann and Danny Batth well.
“I suppose you would have to consider if those two players, who are in their 30s, would be exciting additions to Derby County if you’re a fan.
To tell the truth, I’m not really certain. They would be good additions if their goal is to remain in the Championship the next season.
“I’m not so sure about that if their mandate is to be progressing.”
Since Weimann played for Pride Park for three years, from 2015 to 2018, scoring nine goals in 88 appearances in all competitions, he is already familiar with the stadium.
But in 30 Sky Bet Championship games last season, the 33-year-old forward scored seven goals and contributed two assists, helping Rovers finish just two points outside of the play-off spots.
Although Batth would undoubtedly provide this Derby club with a wealth of defensive experience, the center-half has made 37 appearances under both Eustace and current Blackburn boss Valerien Ismael.
