McInnes could face Killie in his first game as Hearts manager on Sunday.
Ayrshire face Motherwell at Fir Park, while Hearts play at home against St Johnstone.
McInnes is expected to remain in charge of his current club for at least 48 hours.
Liam Fox will continue as caretaker boss of the Jambos for another game.
McInnes is also scheduled to speak to the media tomorrow afternoon during Killie’s pre-match press conference.
Hearts, on the other hand, remain confident that they will reach an agreement to make him their boss before the weekend.
As SunSport revealed last week, Tony Bloom’s data firm Jamestown Analytics has approved the move. And club executives Ann Budge and Andrew McKinlay are eager to make it happen.
SunSport understands that he will not leave Kilmarnock until after the midweek fixtures.
McInnes’ three-year stint at Rugby Park would come to an end with any deal.
Killie chief Billy Bowie is hesitant to lose McInnes, who led the club back to the top flight following the Championship.
However, he refuses to stand in his way.
Steven Naismith, who was released by Hearts earlier this season, is now the frontrunner for a return to Killie, where he began his career.
