Diogo Jota’s wife’s heartbreaking three-word wedding tribute after tragic death
In honour of striker Diogo Jota, who died in a car accident in Spain less than two weeks after marrying his long-time
partner Rute, Liverpool has grabbed the lead.
Earlier this week, Diogo Jota’s wife shared a sorrowful post about their recent wedding, writing, “Yes to forever.”
An early Thursday morning car accident in Spain claimed the lives of Jota, 28, a star for both Portugal and Liverpool,
and his younger brother Andre, who played for Penafiel in the Portuguese second level.
Jota married her long-time partner Rute Cardoso on June 22. Earlier this week, his wife shared pictures from the
wedding on Instagram. Her caption on one picture said, “My dream came true.” Jota’s response was, “I’m the lucky
one.” Three small children were born to the couple.

have my sincere condolences on behalf of the Portuguese Football Federation and myself.
“Two champions have left us. Their passing signifies irreversible losses for Portuguese football, and we will make
every effort to uphold their legacy each and every day.
