Doug King reveals why he’s ‘restless’ at Coventry City what’s impressed him most about Frank Lampard

Apart from winning football games to put the team on the verge of another play-off campaign, Doug King has discussed the work Frank Lampard has done at Coventry City thus far and shared what he has found most impressive about the head coach.

Speaking to CoventryLive at the statue ceremony of FA Cup greats John Sillett and George Curtis, the owner says he’s “restless” as he keeps pushing the team to fulfill his goals, but he says there’s still more work to be done to get there.

The Sky Blues executive chairman King responded, “I would say he’s very professional, very focused, and he’s really instilled belief in the players in their ability,” when asked what, aside from results, he has found most impressive about Lampard and his team.

“After hearing George and John’s stories and how they accomplished it, I think it’s crucial to have players who have a strong sense of self-worth and are willing to go above and beyond.”

He has a great relationship with the players, and I believe that has been shown in our remarkable run of nine straight victories, which is rather unusual.

Therefore, I remain hopeful that we may qualify for the playoffs and that, once there, everything is possible for us.

“Yes, but look, there’s still a lot to do at this football club,” he remarked when asked if he was happy with the team’s growth this season, regardless of what happened in the upcoming games and playoffs.

We’ve accomplished so much already, and it seems like we’ve been here for ages. However, the truth is that we still have to improve things since we haven’t done enough.

It’s a huge deal to get more varied members of our community to come watch football on match days.

“The core fans here are incredible—I mean, truly incredible—and I believe they have thoroughly loved the engagement we’ve been having. Based on what Mark (Robins) did to initiate it and what we’re doing now to keep it going, it indicates that we’re headed in the right way.

Therefore, in my opinion, there is a lot to do, and I always feel like I have a lot to accomplish. Until we get it exactly right, I am a little restless like that. And that’s my objective, of course.
