Ziyad Larkeche admits that Kilmarnock will be a new experience for him as he prepares for his first professional match on Astroturf.

He’s hoping the match at Rugby Park doesn’t end in another first for him.

The French defender has yet to fail to score against Killie.

He has faced Derek McInnes’ side twice, and the left-back has scored both times.

The first was an opener in a 3-2 defeat at Dens Park, followed by a dramatic late winner in the Dark Blues’ next meeting, a 3-2 victory.

No excuses. With Dundee’s Premiership survival uncertain, Larkeche has an opportunity to continue their winning streak.

“We know it’s not an easy place to go, but we need to go with confidence, with the focus really high from everyone and try to take the three points,” said the coach.

“I’ve never played there before, so I don’t know what to expect from the pitch.

“This will be the first professional game on the Astro. But I’m not looking for excuses.

“In football, of course, it is not the best surface, but everyone plays on the same one.

“Other teams have won there, and this week we’ve been practicing on the Astro.” So, as I previously stated, there are no excuses.

“This is a massive week. It’s the most important week of the season for everyone.

“I believe the focus is necessary, but as the season nears its end, you must strive to maintain freshness.

“I think it’s key to give everything during the game.”

This season, Larkeche has three league goals for Dundee, marking his professional debut.

And he’s looking forward to scoring his first goal since November’s victory over Killie.

He added, “If I can go for it, I will go for it wholeheartedly.

“The last one was a good one in the final minute.

“But it would be great if I have the chance to score again and take the three points.”
