Edgware hit-and-run: Two arrested after car ‘driving away from police’ kills woman.

Two men, aged 18 and 19, have been arrested after a collision involving a car driving away from police in which a woman in her 60s died at the scene, while investigations continue. Two males have been arrested following a deadly incident involving a car driving away from police, according to a Metropolitan Police statement released today. At around 2.10pm on Tuesday, a vehicle collided with a pedestrian on Grahame Park Way in Edgware, north-west London. The Met previously stated that the car was driving away from a police vehicle prior to the crash and did not halt. Despite emergency services’ efforts, a woman in her 60s died on the scene, and her family is receiving assistance from highly trained officers. The vehicle was later found abandoned in nearby Franco Avenue, the force said.

Two men, ages 18 and 19, were detained on Wednesday on charges of causing death via unsafe driving and failure to stop. They remain in police detention. A representative for the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) stated, “We have begun an investigation into the Met Police’s (MPS) involvement in a fatal road traffic incident in Colindale yesterday.” They also stated that a woman died at the scene after being hit by a car being pursued by police on Grahame Park Way.

It went on: “After we were notified by the MPS, we dispatched our investigators to the police post-incident procedure and the scene to begin gathering evidence.” We launched an independent investigation just after 4.30pm on Tuesday, and our enquiries are still in their early stages. Detectives from the Met’s severe collision investigation team are examining the incident and looking for witnesses. “They are keen to hear from anyone who saw the incident or anyone leaving the car in Franco Avenue, including road users who have camera footage, to get in contact” , the police reported.
