Eiran Cashin has issued a heartfelt response to Marcus Harness’ Derby County farewell message following the end of the 2024/25 Championship season.

The former Rams defender, who left for Brighton & Hove Albion in January for up to £9 million, responded to Harness’ emotional Instagram post with a heart emoji after his loan at Pride Park ended.

Harness played a key role in Derby County’s successful fight against relegation, despite struggling under previous manager Paul Warne.

Harness transformed into the player Derby fans had hoped he would be after John Eustace took over, thriving in a more advanced role alongside Jerry Yates as a second striker rather than his previous experimental positions under Warne.

Harness’ farewell message for Derby County supporters

On May 11th, Harness used social media to say goodbye to Rams fans after his season-long loan from Ipswich Town ended.

In March, he scored three goals in two games, including a match-winning brace against Plymouth Argyle, securing Derby’s third win of the week.

“Rams, it has been a pleasure; thank you for having me! It was a big job to finish, but I had a great time fighting until the very last day with you all. Thank you for your support through both good and bad times! Harness posted on Instagram: “Up the Rams .”

The 29-year-old forward’s post acknowledged Derby’s challenging relegation battle, which ultimately led to Championship survival under John Eustace’s management.

Cashin, who made 144 appearances for Derby before his East Sussex move, responded with a simple ” to his former teammate’s message, expressing his continued support and affection for both the player and his former club.

Cashin’s reaction demonstrates the strong bonds formed at Pride Park, despite the defender’s move to Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this season.

The 23-year-old central defender left Derby in January 2025, ending his long association with the club after rising through the academy ranks.

Despite joining Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighton side, Cashin has struggled to get Premier League minutes as he adjusts to life at the top level. Since joining the Seagulls in the winter, the defender has made only one appearance.

The Irishman’s development at Derby County was impressive, earning him inclusion in the PFA League One Team of the Year during the club’s promotion-winning 2023-24 season.

With Derby having secured Championship status, Cashin’s show of support reflects the positive atmosphere created at Pride Park despite the season’s challenges.
