Elite 2026 CB Khary Adams Breaks Down Notre Dame Commitment

Elite 2026 CB Khary Adams Breaks Down Notre Dame Commitment.

According to Khary Adams, Notre Dame was always “up there,” but it took some time for the Irish to surpass the competition.

By the end of last weekend’s official visit, they had done exactly that, prompting the 2026 Maryland cornerback to commit to the Irish over Penn State, Oregon, Michigan, and South Carolina. “It was always Notre Dame in the back of my mind,” Adams told Irish Sports Daily. “I loved Penn State, but it was simply a sensation I had. I’d just say it’s unique.” The official visit to South Bend last week let Adams realise how unique the folks at Notre Dame are.

“Being up there with the commits who are going to be in my class, it just showed me that they are all like-minded and trying to get the win,” said the sophomore. “It was really fantastic. It’s a truly special spot. Adams also appreciated the fact that the Irish had pursued him since awarding him a scholarship over a year ago today. “I came to the camp, they offered me and they’ve been recruiting me hard ever since,” he told me. “I always knew it was a good school with a good tradition, so I knew I needed to check it out.” Mike Mickens, Notre Dame’s defensive backs coach, and his track record of developing players influenced Adams’ final decision.

“He’s coached guys who look like me, 6-2,” Adams explained. “He pulled people that looked like me out of high school and placed them in The League. “So it’s like, ‘Why not go there and get developed?'” Head coach Marcus Freeman, as well as the South Bend culture, were extremely important. “He’s a great guy,” Adams said Freeman. “I really believe in what he’s building up there.” Adams is excited to put the recruitment process behind him. “It feels great, man,” he said. He’s thrilled to be a part of the Irish’s 2026 recruiting class and says it’s “not done yet.” Adams is certain that the class will help Notre Dame regain its top spot. “We’re about to win a chip. “Believe that.”
