Since several first-team players’ contracts expire this summer, Everton will have to make a number of important decisions in the upcoming weeks.
Since taking over for Sean Dyche in January, David Moyes has led his team to safety, and they presently sit in 14th place in the Premier League standings.
Next season, though, the Scottish manager might be working with an entirely different team.
The following players have contracts expiring on June 30: Asmir Begovic, Joao Virginia, Seamus Coleman, Ashley Young, Michael Keane, Mason Holgate, Idrissa Gueye, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Neal Maupay.
If permanent deals don’t come through in the upcoming weeks, loanees Orel Mangala, Jesper Lindstrom, Jack Harrison, Carlos Alcaraz, and Armando Broja will return to their parent clubs.
Stefan Borson, a finance specialist, exclusively told Football Insider that because the Merseysiders lack the funds to make multiple new acquisitions, they will need to reach agreements with some of their players to extend their contracts.
Everton is negotiating a deal for Idrissa Gueye.
On April 28, Football Insider reported that Everton and Gueye were negotiating a new deal. The 35-year-old midfielder’s contract with the Merseysiders is anticipated to be extended beyond this summer, according to sources.
Over two stints, Gueye has made 208 appearances for Everton, including 37 this season. Join our brand-new WhatsApp channel or follow us on Facebook for more Everton and exclusive news that will be delivered JJ goright to your phone.
