After the R’s threatened relegation during the 2024–2025 season, Marti Cifuentes kept QPR safe from relegation to League One.
Prior to Boro hiring Rob Edwards this week, Cifuentes was listed in Middlesbrough’s manager hunt and had been placed on gardening leave by the R’s due to his unsuccessful transfer to West Brom.
Prior to the 2025–26 Championship season, QPR has pursued Julien Stephan, the former head coach of Rennes and Strasbourg, to be the next R’s manager.
