Ex-England international Lee Sharpe on Bradford City chances

Lee Sharpe, who thinks his former team can push at the right end of the table upon their return to the third division, says as much.

The former England international stated, “I believe Bradford should stay up, but as usual, it all depends on recruitment.” Many clubs move straight from League Two into League One and then the Championship.

“I’m hoping they can compete well in League One. Graham Alexander has provided promotion this year and appears to know what he’s talking about.

“I believe the players will be aware of his lofty goals and desire to be promoted once more.”

Sharpe played 66 games for the team and was promoted to the Premier League in 1999.

He told Esports Insider that City has to back Alexander during the summer transfer window, something owner Stefan Rupp has hinted will happen once more.

“I don’t see a reason why Bradford can’t go and push for the League One playoffs next season and achieve back-to-back promotions, provided the club financially supports Alexander and makes wise transfer window acquisitions,” Sharpe continued.
